Why not to leave your streaming accounts signed in on a rental TV

Signing your own account into the room TV is the fastest way to give guests something to watch. It is also the easiest way to lose control of the account.

What can go wrong

• Guests can see your profiles and viewing history
• Guests can change or add profiles, or sign you out
• Accidental purchases or rentals can land on your account
• A shared account can hit device or profile limits
• Someone has to remember to sign out and tidy after every stay

A better pattern

Let guests cast from their own phones using their own accounts. The TV never holds anyone’s login, so there is nothing to reset and nothing to leak.

If you keep your account on the TV anyway

• Use a dedicated profile with a PIN where the service supports it
• Turn on any purchase protection the service offers
• Read the service’s own terms on use in rental settings
