How much electricity does a rental TV use in Da Nang?
A TV and streaming box cost roughly 1,300 ₫ of electricity a night at current EVN residential rates.
If you pay the electricity or bill it back to guests, it helps to know what a TV costs to run. The short answer: very little.
The tariff
EVN’s residential retail tariff changed on 1 November 2026 (Decision 2892 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade), moving from six tiers to five. Prices are before VAT.
| Tier | Monthly kWh | ₫ per kWh |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | up to 100 | 1,901 |
| 2 | 101–200 | 2,289 |
| 3 | 201–400 | 2,894 |
| 4 | 401–700 | 3,456 |
| 5 | 701 and above | 3,844 |
The estimate
We assume a TV and box draw about 110 W together and a guest watches four hours a night. That is 0.44 kWh. At the tier 3 rate of 2,894 ₫ per kWh, that is about 1,300 ₫ a night, or roughly 23,000 ₫ a month for a room booked 18 nights.
These are typical figures, not measurements. A large or old TV can use more; a small modern one, less.
What this means for you
- Electricity from the TV is a small number next to a nightly rate, so it is not a reason to avoid offering a TV
- If you meter electricity to guests, watching more means a little more you recover
Check before you bill
The rules on which tariff a landlord may charge when reselling electricity can differ by meter setup and contract. Confirm with your electricity provider or an advisor before you set a rate.
